BURY MY HEART AT WOUNDED KNEE

Where are the mustangs that once roamed the prairies
Where are the whales that played in the sea
Where are the seals so gentle and easy
Where are the women who once loved me

Long came man and he broke all the mustangs
Long came man and he killed all the whales
Long came man and he slaughtered the seals
Long came man took my women to hell

Where is the grass agrowin’ so green
Where are the trees so easily seen
Where are the flowers that come in the spring
Where are the ladies who once made me sing

Long came man and he covered the grass
Long came man and he cut down the trees
Long came man and he poisoned the flowers
Long came man took my ladies from me

Where are the buffalo where do they roam
Where is the Indian where is his home
Where is the fresh air sent from above
Where is the woman that has true love

Buffalo’s gone to the prairie in the sky
Indian’s gone to be by his side
Fresh air’s gone it flew away and died
And the woman with true love somewhere she hides

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
You can bury my body but my spirit is free
Soaring like an eagle up in the sky
You can bury my body but my spirit won’t die
You can bury my body but my spirit won’t die
